Cheryl Harris Forbes is the Business Outreach Consultant for Small Business for a Healthy Connecticut. For more than 15 years she worked as a communications professional in broadcast, corporate, government, legal and university environments. She is the former Public Affairs Special Projects Director for the State of Connecticut African-American Affairs Commission (AAAC). In that capacity, she provided media and public relations counsel and strategy to three executive directors as well as to the AAAC Board. During her career Ms. Forbes frequently initiated partnerships with a wide variety of state agencies, Executive Branch offices, community, faith-based, and non-profit organizations to improve the health and economic viability of Connecticut residents. Ms. Forbes, an adept writer and publicist, is a graduate of Syracuse University’s S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, with an earned Master’s degree in Integrated Marketing Communications from Emerson College. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, a Connecticut Health Foundation Leadership Fellow, member of the Board of Trustees for Wheeler Clinic, and managing principal of her integrated marketing consultancy, Harris Forbes Associates.
